Hérault contains several inland wine areas in Languedoc. Pic Saint-Loup has higher vineyards on limestone and is associated with fresh wines. Faugères and Saint-Chinian have schist soils, while Terrasses du Larzac lies farther inland, in the foothills of the Massif Central. Other appellations include Grès de Montpellier, Clairette du Languedoc, Muscat de Frontignan, Muscat de Mireval, Muscat de Lunel and Pézenas.
