The Producer

Syrah, Grenache, Cinsault and Carignan are the Mediterranean grapes planted across Domaine Les Grandes Costes. The family estate was founded in 1868 and revived and renamed by Jean-Christophe Granier. Its vineyard covers 19 hectares in Corconne and Vacquières, villages at the foothills of Pic Saint-Loup, and the vines range from 10 to 70 years old.

The wines pair mineral character with supple tannins. The range stays with the red styles of Pic Saint-Loup and Languedoc.

Place

The estate's vineyards lie in Corconne and Vacquières, both at the foothills of Pic Saint-Loup. The range carries the Pic Saint-Loup and Languedoc appellations, placing its bottles under a named local appellation and a broader regional designation.

Wines

Les Grandes Costes is the Pic Saint-Loup bottling, and the 2018 wine is composed of 80% Syrah, 15% Grenache and 5% Cinsault. Its fruit is concentrated and powerful, with velvety, tight tannins. Les Musardises Rouge is the Languedoc bottling. It brings fresh red fruit, including strawberry and cherry, with light pepper, violet and licorice.

Final Word

Domaine Les Grandes Costes has held Haute Valeur Environnementale certification since December 2019 and bottles red wines under the Pic Saint-Loup and Languedoc appellations.
