Slovakia

Slovakia follows the Little Carpathians and Danube lowlands, with Nitra, Central Slovakia, Eastern Slovakia and Tokaj extending the map. Riesling, Grüner Veltliner and Frankovka are useful touchstones. Hills preserve a cooler feel, while lower, warmer areas broaden the wines.

  1. 01Central SlovakiaNo producers listed yetIn the south of central Slovakia, vineyards spread across warm, mild and dry slopes and plains. 2. 02Eastern SlovakiaNo producers listed yetEastern Slovakia follows the mild slopes of Vihorlat and the edge of the East Slovakian lowland. A broad grape mix supports both white and red wines under the Východoslovenská designation. Separate from it, Slovakia's Tokaj area in Lower Zemplín is part of a cross-border region known for natural sweet wines.
  3. 03Little CarpathiansNo producers listed yetLittle Carpathians is a wine region in southwestern Slovakia with two sub-regions, Malokarpatská and Skalický rubín. Its vineyards span varied soils, and producers make still wines alongside traditional-method sparkling wines.
