Producer coverage

No producers listed yet

We do not yet list a producer in Little Carpathians. The region guide, map and nearby wine places remain open to explore.

Little Carpathians lies in southwestern Slovakia. The national growers' union describes it as the country's oldest and most famous winegrowing region. Celtic finds point to grape growing here in the sixth and seventh centuries BC, and Romans established vineyards on these slopes more than two thousand years ago. The region's wines were later served at the imperial court in Vienna and on the Titanic.

Its soils are far from uniform. Clay-to-sandy, semi-skeletal soils formed from stream-cone deposits sit alongside Morava sediments and windblown sands in the southwest. Little Carpathians makes still wines and traditional-method sparkling wines. Malokarpatská is a protected designation of origin in Slovakia, a name that also covers masculine, feminine and neuter Slovak forms.
