Nitra is a Slovak wine region with one subregion, Nitrianska, the official winegrowing region and protected designation. The Dolný Váh, Nitra, Hron and Žitava help define its sites and microclimates. Warm, dry lowlands can support ripe, full-flavoured wines, while varied terrain and skeletal, mineral-rich soils bring further variation. Radošinský klevner, rosé Cabernet wines and sparkling wine associated with Nitra and Sereď are among the region's local styles.
