Steep mountains rise behind the shore, and most commercial vineyards are around Ulcinj. Red grapes include Vranac and Kratošija, while Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Krstač are grown for whites.
  2. 02Lake Skadar And Central1 producerLake Skadar and Central Montenegro is the country's largest wine-growing area, between Podgorica and Lake Skadar. Vineyards occupy low river plains, rocky limestone ground and terraced slopes. Vranac is the leading red grape, alongside Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot; whites include the local Krstač and Chardonnay.
  3. 03NiksicNo producers listed yetNikšić is a wine-growing area in Montenegro whose vineyards include Nudo, in the Zaslapnica River valley. Nudo's 1.85 hectares of registered vines are concentrated around Javor at 400 to 500 metres. The local white grape Žilavka grows alongside Vranac, Kratošija, Rhine Riesling and Cabernet Sauvignon.
