Light, fruity white wines are Neszmély's best-known style. The area receives 1,900-2,000 sunshine hours a year and 550-650 mm of annual precipitation. Neszmély became a wine region in 1897, after recovery from phylloxera and earlier historical disruption. Neszmély and Neszmélyi are registered Hungarian protected wine names.
