Commercial planting at Hua Hin followed encouraging results from a 2003 experiment at the Huai Sai Royal Research project. The vineyard is in a valley in Prachuap Khiri Khan province, about 35 km from Hua Hin beach. Nearness to the coast brings cooler nights and hill breezes, while collected rainwater is used for irrigation during the dry season.
Once associated with an elephant corral, this is the largest of Monsoon Valley's three vineyard locations. The wines are sold as New Latitude wines, a term for wines made outside traditional wine-growing latitudes. International varieties adapted to tropical conditions grow alongside Muscat, Dornfelder, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc. The range includes white, red, rosé, late-harvest and sparkling wines. The producer associates the sandy loam with freshness and mineral character.
