Friuli Grave covers about 7,500 hectares on both sides of the Tagliamento River in the provinces of Udine and Pordenone. Its high plain has stony alluvial soils known as Magredi or Grave. This gravelly ground favours fresh white wines, including Ribolla Gialla and Pinot Grigio. The appellations include Friuli Grave and Friuli.
