Sud-Ouest is a French wine region made up of distinct places rather than a single style. Cahors is the French home of Côt, better known as Malbec. Madiran centres on Tannat, while Jurançon uses Manseng for both dry whites and sweet wines. Around Gaillac, Duras, Braucol, Mauzac and Len de l'El remain part of the local vocabulary. Bergerac and the Dordogne sit closer to Bordeaux in both grapes and landscape, but have their own wine culture.
