The Producer
Vignerons Ardèchois - UVICA was founded in southern Ardèche in 1967. The cooperative works principally with Syrah, Grenache, Chardonnay, Viognier and Chatus, producing approachable single-variety wines and fruit-driven blends.
Vinification is decentralized across 12 local centres. Grapes from nearby vineyards can be pressed and vinified within a 15-minute drive of where they were harvested. This local structure accompanies a range built around familiar varieties, alongside wines organized by specific terroirs.
Place
Basalte du Coiron belongs to the Terroir range. It is a single-varietal Syrah explicitly associated with volcanic soils, giving the range a focused link between one grape, one named origin and one soil type.
Wines
Basalte du Coiron Syrah 2023 is deep red with violet reflections. Its expressive nose carries spice, pepper and nutmeg. The palate is structured, ample and powerful, with present tannins that are also soft and silky. Red fruit and spice share the aromatic profile.
