The Producer
Domaine Georges Vernay has a Rhône range in both red and white styles. Its red wines cover Côte-Rôtie, Saint-Joseph and VdP des Collines Rhodaniennes, while its white wines carry Condrieu labels. The range includes named bottles at each of those appellation levels.
Place
Four appellation names appear across the range: Côte-Rôtie, Saint-Joseph, VdP des Collines Rhodaniennes and Condrieu. Côte-Rôtie, Saint-Joseph and VdP des Collines Rhodaniennes are attached to red wines. Condrieu is attached to white wines.
Wines
The red wines include Côte-Rôtie Blonde du Seigneur Domaine Georges Vernay, Côte-Rôtie Maison Rouge, Domaine Georges Vernay Saint-Joseph Terres d'Encre and Saint-Agathe Syrah. The white wines are Condrieu Coteau de Vernon Domaine Georges Vernay, Domaine Georges Vernay Condrieu Les Terrasses de l'Empire and Condrieu Les Chaillées de l'Enfer.
In The Glass
Maison Rouge 2009 is supple and fresh, with sweet, ripe black raspberries, kirsch, flowers, mint, spice, espresso bean, licorice, smoke and earthy characteristics. Blonde du Seigneur 2016 is medium bodied and fresh, with juicy kirsch, smoke, licorice, herbs and grilled meat. Blonde du Seigneur 2015 is forward and lush, with smoke, black licorice, espresso, barbecue and ripe cherries in a sensuously textured expression.
Final Word
The range includes Côte-Rôtie Blonde du Seigneur in 2021 and 2022, and Côte-Rôtie Maison Rouge in 2021.
