The Producer
Three generations of the Grangeon family have owned Domaine de Cristia. The domaine is located in Courthézon and works across Côtes du Rhône and Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Its principal Châteauneuf holdings lie in the Cristia lieu-dit, a named place that accounts for most of the estate's holdings. The family range includes a Côtes du Rhône Rouge and a Châteauneuf-du-Pape made from Grenache and Syrah.
Place
Domaine de Cristia is located in Courthézon. Ninety percent of its holdings are in the Cristia lieu-dit, while the remaining ten percent are spread across three separate parcels. The Cristia exposure and soil give the wines natural freshness.
Wines
The range includes Domaine Cristia Cotes du Rhone Rouge 2023 and Domaine de Cristia Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2022. The Châteauneuf-du-Pape is the more specific appellation wine, with 85% Grenache and 15% Syrah. The 2022 Classic is aged for 18 months in concrete tanks and foudre.
The standard Châteauneuf-du-Pape has an almost feminine style with natural elegance. Its palate is silky, with fine tannins and a remarkable balance between richness and freshness.
Final Word
Domaine de Cristia is a Grangeon family domaine in Courthézon, with its principal Châteauneuf-du-Pape holdings in the Cristia lieu-dit and its range extending to Côtes du Rhône Rouge.
