The Producer

When her father's health declined, Anne Gros took over Domaine François Gros in 1988, at a time when most of its wine was sold in bulk. She has continued alone since 1995. Domaine Anne Gros produces approximately 30,000 bottles annually.

Grapes are hand harvested. Red wines ferment with indigenous yeasts in epoxy lined cement tanks, while white wines ferment in stainless steel. Anne works with organic and biodynamic practices without formal certification, keeping flexibility in the work.

Place

Vosne-Romanée is the home village of Domaine Anne Gros. The Burgundy range includes Clos Vougeot Le Grand Maupertui, a 2022 red from Côte de Nuits, and Richebourg Grand Cru Rouge, a 2023 red from Côte de Nuits.

Burgundy labels use several geographic levels. Regional wine names a broad Burgundy origin, Village wine names a commune, and Grand Cru identifies a classified vineyard. The range also reaches Cazelles in Minervois through the partnership with Jean-Paul Tollot behind La Ciaude.

Wines

Three parts of the range appear in the named bottles. Clos Vougeot Le Grand Maupertui and Richebourg Grand Cru Rouge are Burgundy red wines from Côte de Nuits. Crémant de Bourgogne La Fun en Bulles is the sparkling Burgundy wine, while La Ciaude Minervois Rouge is a Minervois red made from Grenache, Syrah and Carignan.

Barrel ageing typically lasts about 16 months. New oak accounts for 80 percent of Grand Cru wine, 50 percent of Village wine, and 30 percent of regional wines. La Ciaude has an ageing profile suited to time in bottle.

Final Word

Anne Gros connects a Vosne-Romanée domaine to Cazelles in Minervois, with Burgundy reds, a Crémant de Bourgogne, and La Ciaude's Grenache, Syrah and Carignan.
