The Producer

Château Pierrail has 17th century origins dated to 1680. The Barons de Brianson held the property from 1782 onward, before the Demonchaux family took ownership in 1970.

Jacques, Alice and Aurélien Demonchaux are part of the family operation behind the estate. The family formed its EARL partnership in 1996. Aurélien oversees the development and quality of the red, white and rosé wines.

Place

Château Pierrail is a Bordeaux estate with a separate related vineyard property at Château Arnaud, operated by the same family. The two properties give the family a total estate of 107 hectares, while the Château Pierrail vineyard itself covers 90 hectares.

Wines

The range covers red, white and rosé wines. Named releases include Les Hauts de Naudon, Château Pierrail Rouge 2020, Blanc 2025 and Prestige 2023.

Château Pierrail Rouge 2020 is the named red release. Blanc 2025 provides the corresponding white bottling, while Prestige 2023 is presented as a separate named wine. Les Hauts de Naudon adds another named wine to the portfolio.

In The Glass

The 2015 Bordeaux Supérieur red is dense dark purple, with a pure, ripe and youthful nose. Floral and dark fruit aromas bring crushed blackcurrant and plum, followed by touches of vanilla and new wood.

The palate has ripe tannin, abundant fruit expression, a fresh backbone and a long, steady finish. The 2019 Bordeaux Supérieur red shows crushed blackberry, crushed strawberry, red berries, pulpy blue fruit, violet and vanilla on the nose.

A Bottle To Understand It

Open Château Pierrail Rouge 2020 first. It is the named red release in the portfolio, with the vintage printed in its name. The range then widens to Les Hauts de Naudon, Blanc 2025, Prestige 2023 and the estate's white and rosé wines.

Final Word

Château Pierrail is a Bordeaux family estate with HVE certified cultivation and a named range of red, white and rosé wines, including Château Pierrail Rouge 2020.
