The Producer

Cave de Tain is a cooperative that owns 26 hectares directly, including 21 hectares in Hermitage. New production facilities opened in 2014 and enabled more parcel-by-parcel selections. Cave de Tain is Europe's leading producer of wines focused on Syrah.

Place

Cave de Tain is located at 22 route de Larnage in Tain-l'Hermitage, in the Northern Rhône Valley. Its Saint-Joseph Nobles Rives Blanc is a white Saint-Joseph wine from granite soils in the southern part of the appellation.

Wines

The Nobles Rives name covers a Crozes-Hermitage red and a Saint-Joseph white. Esprit de Granit is a Saint-Joseph red. Together, the three bottles include two red wines and one white wine from two appellations.

Crozes-Hermitage Nobles Rives Rouge 2022 is an aromatic Syrah with blackberries and cherries, moderate body, and pepper on the finish. Saint-Joseph Esprit de Granit 2022 has freshness, dark fruit, spice and minerality from granite terroir. Saint-Joseph Nobles Rives Blanc 2023 is a dry Marsanne in a rich style, with ripe yellow fruit and delicate oak notes that add complexity and volume.

Final Word

Cave de Tain works with member grower vineyards and owns vineyards directly in Hermitage. It makes red and white wines from Crozes-Hermitage and Saint-Joseph.
