Halland sits on Sweden's southern west coast. It is a province and wine-growing area rather than a legally delimited appellation. Near the Åkulla beech forests in central Halland, Ästad Vingård grows Solaris alongside Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. At Hallands Bär, Solaris is the main grape, used for white and sparkling wines. Much of its rosé comes from a Solaris and Rondo blend. The vineyard says good red wine remains experimental and has only occasionally succeeded.
