Roussillon

Roussillon is France's Catalan wine corner, between the Pyrenees, the Mediterranean and Catalonia. Grenache, Carignan, schist and limestone shape dry wines alongside historic fortified styles, while the Côte Vermeille brings steep sea-facing terraces to Collioure and Banyuls.

Roussillon lies between the Pyrenees, the Mediterranean and Catalonia. Grenache and Carignan lead many reds, while Macabeu and Grenache Gris appear in whites and fortified wines. Banyuls, Maury and Rivesaltes are part of its vin doux naturel history, but Calce, Vingrau and the Agly valley also make dry wines. On the Côte Vermeille, terraces above the sea are home to Collioure and Banyuls. Schist, limestone and the coast give the wines a stony, salty, herbal character.
