Afames sits east of the Ha-Potami River in Cyprus's Limassol wine villages, collectively known as Krasochoria. Defined at 750 metres and above, it includes Vouni, Kilani, Mandria and Omodos.
Mavro and Maratheftiko are associated with structured reds here, while Xynisteri makes crisp whites. Afames also produces robust, traditional-style reds with ageing potential. On labels, the protected name may appear as Krasochoria Lemesou, with or without Afames. Its official equivalent is Krasohoria Lemesou - Afames.
