Graševina is the white grape that most clearly marks Slavonia & Croatian Danube, one of Croatia's four wine regions. In Slavonija, it can be fresh and sparkling, or made as aged, macerated, predicate and ice wine. In Hrvatsko Podunavlje, the wine-growing hills of Srijem, Erdut and Baranja rise above the plains. Higher slopes have moving air, unlike lowland depressions where poor ventilation and frost are more common.
The region also makes more than Graševina. Traminac is often rose-scented and made in semi-sweet or sweet styles, while Frankovka can show blackberry, plum, cherry and dark chocolate. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot extend the red-wine range.
