We do not yet list a producer in Wallonie (sparkling). The region guide, map and nearby wine places remain open to explore.

Wallonia is cool and humid, and grapes ripen slowly here. Acidity stays high while sugar levels remain modest, giving sparkling wine an acidic, lower-alcohol base. Vineyards cluster around the Moselle valley near Luxembourg and on the gentle slopes of the Meuse, with river-bank sites, walled vineyards and south-facing slopes among them.

Crémant de Wallonie covers all of Wallonia and is protected as a PDO. Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Pinot Blanc are its principal permitted grapes. It is made by the traditional method in white and rosé styles. Other Walloon designations include Côtes de Sambre et Meuse, Vin mousseux de qualité de Wallonie and Vin de pays de jardin, so the name on the label matters.

Winegrowing returned to Wallonia in the early 1960s after a long decline. Charles Legot is identified as one of the figures behind that revival.
