Jujuy's wine country includes the more precisely defined Quebrada de Humahuaca. Its eastern and western boundaries follow land beside the Río Grande, up to 400 metres above the river. Resolution 39/2015 formally recognized the Quebrada as an Indicación Geográfica. One Jujuy Malbec showed blackcurrant, sweet spicy herbs and floral notes, with satin texture, tannins and striking acidity. Its extreme-altitude setting was given as the explanation for that distinctive structure.
