Shkoder brings together the Zadrima plain, foothills and the Albanian Alps. Its wider wine area includes Shkodra-Lezha and the inland hills of Mirdita. The Mediterranean climate brings rain and wind, with annual rainfall of about 2500 mm.
Kallmet is the local native red grape to look for. Shkodra Kallmet is light ruby, high in acidity, with cherry and pomegranate in its profile. Merlot also appears among the region's grapes.
