The Producer
Veuve Fourny et Fils is a grower based at 5 rue du Mesnil in Vertus. Brothers Emmanuel and Charles Fourny took over the family estate in 1993. They sought to bring a personal touch to the cuvées while maintaining the house style.
The house follows an eco-responsible approach in the vineyard and throughout Champagne production and marketing.
Wines
Across the range, wines spend more than six months on their lees in vats or old small oak casks. The house blends wines vinified in tanks with wines aged in oak barrels and generally uses little or no dosage at disgorgement.
Blanc de Blancs Extra-Brut is 100% Chardonnay. It spends seven months on lees before bottling, with 75% in vats and 25% in oak casks. The palate combines creaminess and sharpness with a saline finish.
Clos Notre Dame receives separate vinification in small oak casks followed by ten years of ageing in the estate’s cellars.
Monts de Vertus Blanc de Blancs 2012 Magnum spent eight years ageing on lees after bottling. Its profile is chalky, graphite-led and buttery-iodized, with blood-orange and white-pepper notes.
