The Producer
The Terre Nardin name appears on still white wines carrying Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay, the red Merlot Trevenezie, and sparkling bottles using Blanc de Blancs and Prosecco names. Prosecco DOC Extra Dry, Millesimato Brut and Prosecco Rosé Extra Dry are part of the Prosecco range. Terre Nardin is based in Roncadelle di Ormelle in the Marca Trevigiana of Veneto.
Place
Roncadelle di Ormelle is the named home in the Marca Trevigiana of Veneto. Trevenezie appears in the names of the still Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Merlot wines. Prosecco is a geographic appellation for sparkling wine, and the name appears on several bottles in the range. Blanc de Blancs Millesimato Extra Dry uses a different sparkling designation.
Story
Sergio Nardin passed his knowledge and passion for the vineyard to his sons Paolo and Pietro. Paolo, an oenologist, follows production, while Pietro coordinates the commercial side. The cellar combines family continuity with modern vinification technology.
Vineyards And Cellar
Terre Nardin manages more than 200 hectares, and some of those vineyards belong to outside growers. Company agronomists personally supervise production in those vineyards. The Ganimede method is used for gentle vinification. This approach limits force during extraction, which can keep tannin from becoming coarse and preserve fresh fruit.
Wines
The still category contains Terre Nardin Sauvignon Blanc Trevenezie and Trevenezie Chardonnay as white wines, plus Merlot Trevenezie as a red. The sparkling category contains Blanc de Blancs Millesimato Extra Dry, Prosecco Rosé Extra Dry Millesimato and Prosecco Frizzante Spago. Prosecco DOC Extra Dry and Millesimato Brut also sit within the Prosecco range. Frizzante names the lighter sparkling style, so the range changes by grape, colour and effervescence.
In The Glass
Mousse is the fine bubble texture of sparkling wine. The still bottles have none: Sauvignon Blanc Trevenezie and Trevenezie Chardonnay are white, while Merlot Trevenezie is red. Blanc de Blancs Millesimato Extra Dry and Prosecco Rosé Extra Dry Millesimato carry mousse, and dissolved carbon dioxide gives them a different mouthfeel from the still wines. The Rosé adds pink colour.
A Bottle To Understand It
Blanc de Blancs Millesimato Extra Dry is the first bottle to open. The label names a sparkling white wine and a vintage bottling, placing it outside the Prosecco names and apart from the still Trevenezie wines.
Final Word
Terre Nardin puts Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Merlot beside Blanc de Blancs, Prosecco Rosé and Prosecco Frizzante in a Veneto range that covers still and sparkling wine.
