The Producer

St. Andrea began in 2002, after an investor asked Lőrincz György to establish a winery. He is joined by his son, Lőrincz György Jr., forming the father-and-son winemaking team associated with the estate.

The winery has reported cultivating 20 varieties intended to express Eger traditions. It particularly emphasizes Olaszrizling, Hárslevelű, Furmint, Kadarka and Kékfrankos. Its working philosophy begins in the vineyard and combines regional traditions with modern quality expectations, with individual vineyards expressed through the wines.

Wines

The white-blend range includes Napbor as Egri Csillag Classicus, Örökké as Egri Csillag Superior and Boldogságos as Egri Csillag Grand Superior. Boldogságos is the single-vineyard wine of the trio, sourced from the namesake vineyard in Egerszólát. The site was formerly called Pipis.

Boldogságos 2022 initially showed restrained aromas of white- and green-fleshed fruit, apple, pear and almond. With air came thyme, sage, fennel and medlar. The palate was round and firm but not heavy, with restrained oak, acidity, a slight phenolic grip, apple-skin astringency and a rustic edge. Citrus appeared alongside late grapefruit. On the second day open, Seville orange, gooseberry and herbal or green-spice notes moved forward.
