Who makes it

Logodaj Winery was established in 1994. Svetlana Treneva leads winemaking, with Mourad Ouada as consultant. The winery has capacity for more than three million litres a year and uses Italian equipment.

Where it grows

The winery is in Logodaj village; its vineyards are near General Todorov, close to the Greek border. They cover more than 700 decares in the Petrich Sandanski valley, between Melnik and Heraclea Sintika.

Broad leaved Melnik Vine is a local variety of southwestern Bulgaria. Early Melnik Vine, also called Melnik 55, was developed to ripen earlier and involves Broad leaved Melnik Vine, Durif and Valdiguié.

What they make

Logodaj makes sparkling, white, rosé and red wines, along with rakia, a Bulgarian grape spirit. The vineyards include the local Melnik varieties and Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay.

Unity Reserva Merlot 2024 uses grapes from different vineyards in the Thracian Lowlands. It has plum, blackcurrant, blueberry, chocolate, herb and vanilla notes, with noticeable tannin and high acidity. It contains 12.5% alcohol and 0.4 grams of sugar per 100 millilitres.
