The Producer

La Maison du Vigneron operates through the Marcel Cabelier, Domaine de Savagny and François Montand brands. Domaine de Savagny is an HVE certified estate, while the wider company works with local winemaking families across the Jura.

Its range covers the principal Jura appellation categories, including Côtes du Jura, Château-Chalon, L'Étoile, Arbois, Macvin du Jura, Crémant du Jura and Marc du Jura. Marcel Cabelier Macvin du Jura provides the most specific bottle focus, with white and red versions documented in the range.

Place

Jura appellation names place the bottles in distinct regional categories. Côtes du Jura, Château-Chalon, L'Étoile and Arbois identify still wine appellations, while Crémant du Jura names the sparkling category, Macvin du Jura the Macvin category, and Marc du Jura the regional marc spirit.

Crançot is home to the Hall Vin Jaune tasting facility. Vineyard visits with tastings take place on plots in Baume-les-Messieurs and Menétru-le-Vignoble, linking the appellation names to working vineyard locations.

Story

La Maison du Vigneron collaborates with 60 local winemaking families. That network sits alongside the Domaine de Savagny estate and gives the company two distinct sources of wine, estate production and local family partnerships.

The company also became the first producer of Crémants du Jura. Crémant du Jura now sits within the same range as the region's still wine appellations, Macvin du Jura and Marc du Jura.

Vineyards And Cellar

Domaine de Savagny encompasses 62 hectares and holds HVE status. Haute Valeur Environnementale is an environmental certification for agricultural operations, covering the way a farm manages its surrounding resources.

Marcel Cabelier Macvin du Jura is aged in oak for 12 to 16 months. Oak ageing allows gradual oxygen exposure and can add wood spice while softening the wine's texture.

Wines

La Maison du Vigneron produces the complete Jura range: Côtes du Jura, Château-Chalon, L'Étoile, Arbois, Macvin du Jura, Crémant du Jura and Marc du Jura. The portfolio therefore moves across still wine appellations, sparkling wine, Macvin and marc.

Marcel Cabelier carries both white and red Macvin du Jura versions. The white and red labels give the same category two different colour and flavour directions, while the other appellation names widen the range beyond Macvin.

In The Glass

The white Marcel Cabelier Macvin du Jura opens with roasted, anise, spiced and exotic fruit notes. Its attack is vigorous, then richness fills the palate, carrying into a lingering aromatic finish.

The red version shows a slightly brick toned colour with a silvery rim. Morello cherry dominates the palate, with a hint of prune behind it.

A Bottle To Understand It

Choose the white Marcel Cabelier Macvin du Jura. It is made from 100% Chardonnay, aged in oak for 12 to 16 months, and bottled at 17.5% alcohol. The red Macvin remains a separate version, with a different colour and fruit profile.

Anecdote

On 9 October 1995, the Crémant du Jura AOC was established. La Maison du Vigneron launched Marcel Cabelier at that moment and became the first producer of Crémants du Jura. The brand's sparkling wine arrived alongside the appellation that defined its regional name.

Final Word

La Maison du Vigneron brings together the Jura's seven named categories, the Domaine de Savagny estate, local family partnerships and Marcel Cabelier Macvin du Jura. Its range includes both white and red Macvin alongside Crémant du Jura and the region's still wine appellations.
