The Producer

Koblevo makes wine in Ukraine, with annual production of about 20 million bottles. The winery works with European vine seedlings from France, Italy and Germany, planting 3,333 seedlings per hectare. Weed control uses Czech mechanical hoes, with the producer stating that chemicals are not used for this work.

Harvested grapes reach the plant within one to two hours. Processing lines have a stated capacity of 160 tonnes per hour. The winery checks sugar and acidity, monitors physical, chemical and microbiological parameters, and uses selected yeast cultures for individual varieties. Cold sterile bottling has been used since 2013.

Place

The vineyards lie between the warm Black Sea and the protected Tiligul estuary. Koblevo places its own vineyards on the 46th parallel, in a landscape defined by coastal water and sheltered estuary rather than a named appellation.

Wines

Koblevo's range includes the Bordeaux, Reserve and Select lines. The Bordeaux series contains Muscat Rose, Koblevo Bordeaux Cabernet and Koblevo Bordeaux Chardonnay.

Muscat Rose is an ordinary semi sweet rosé table wine made from Muscat varieties, including Muscat Hamburg. Koblevo Bordeaux Cabernet is a dry red varietal table wine made from Cabernet Sauvignon. Koblevo Bordeaux Chardonnay is a varietal white table wine made from Chardonnay. The 2022 set also includes Koblevo Röda olvon Cab/Merlot and Koblevo Fria fågeln Traminer/Aligote.

In The Glass

Muscat Rose is pink and semi sweet, with aromas of tea rose petals and sweet spices. Koblevo Bordeaux Cabernet ranges from ruby to dark ruby, with red berries, morocco and light solanaceous notes.

Koblevo Bordeaux Chardonnay ranges from pale straw to light gold. Its complex floral aroma sits alongside white exotic fruit, green apple and light freshness.

Final Word

Koblevo combines coastal Ukrainian vineyards, rapid harvest handling and varietal wines across its Bordeaux, Reserve and Select lines.
