The Producer

The Torres family founded its winery in Vilafranca del Penedès in 1870. The family's Penedès winemaking tradition reaches back to the sixteenth century, and its fifth generation now focuses on unique vineyards, historic estates, ancestral varieties and regenerative viticulture in response to climate change.

Miguel Torres Chile carries that work into Chile through organic and regenerative viticulture, historic dry farmed vineyards, and projects addressing sustainability, climate adaptation and the preservation of Chilean wine heritage. The family has also helped recover the historic Chilean varieties País and Carignan.

Place

Miguel Torres Chile has vineyards and wineries in Curicó, Maule, Limarí, Maipo, Itata and Biobío. Its wines are made to faithfully express their places of origin.

Curicó is tied to Manso de Velasco's Cabernet Sauvignon, while Maule supplies old dry farmed Carignan for Cordillera VIGNO. Empedrado gives Escaleras de Empedrado pronounced energy and good acidity through its climate and soil conditions.

Wines

Manso de Velasco is a single vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon from the Curicó Valley. Born in 1985 as the Chilean operation's first wine based on the Vino de Pago concept, it introduced ageing in new oak and in the bottle.

Escaleras de Empedrado is a Pinot Noir positioned as Miguel Torres Chile's highest end wine. Its profile includes forest floor, mushrooms, spice and complex fruit, with pronounced energy and good acidity.

Cordillera VIGNO Carignan is a Maule wine from old vines grown without irrigation. It belongs to a project built around wines of character from historic dry farmed vines and the development of Maule's standing through differentiated wines.

Final Word

Miguel Torres Chile makes wines that faithfully express their places of origin.
