The Producer

Pinot Noir covers 70% of the family vineyards at Drappier. The Champagne house cultivates approximately 60 hectares directly, including 15 hectares certified organic.

Drappier follows a natural winemaking approach with minimal to no sulfite intervention. The estate has held carbon neutral certification since 2015. Pinot Noir remains the central grape, while the range also includes wines separated by dosage, grape composition, and colour.

Place

Urville is the Champagne village where the Drappier family created its domaine in 1808. The vineyards also preserve Arbanne, Petit Meslier, and Blanc Vrai, heritage grape varieties grown in specialized cuvées.

These varieties sit beside Pinot Noir in the estate's vineyard holdings and give the range bottles made from grapes that are rarely seen in Champagne blends.

Wines

Drappier's named wines include Brut Nature Pinot Noir Zero Dosage Sans Soufre, Millésime Exception Brut, and Brut Rosé. The bottles divide the range through grape composition, dosage, colour, and lees ageing.

Brut Nature is 100% Pinot Noir with zero dosage. It is vermilion gold, with aromas of black grapes, red, white, and citrus fruits, followed on the palate by vineyard peach and aromatic herbs. The wine is tightly knit and pure.

Millésime Exception combines 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay, ages four years on lees, and receives 5 g/l dosage. It has a lemon straw colour and aromas of flowers and mid season apples.

Brut Rosé, introduced in 1968, is made entirely from Pinot Noir.

Final Word

Drappier is rooted in Urville and led by Pinot Noir, with zero dosage Champagne, lees aged wine, and specialized cuvées from Arbanne, Petit Meslier, and Blanc Vrai.
