The Producer
Jean-Claude moved from cooper work to viticulture in 1918, beginning the family’s wine heritage. Perrine Janin represents the fifth generation and joined her father Éric in 2023. The house connects hand craft with the grape, describing the hand as work, gesture and signature. Its portfolio centers on named red cuvées.
Place
The appellation on Vignes du Tremblay is Moulin-à-Vent in Beaujolais. Le Tremblay is the place linked to Marcel Janin’s parcel purchase in 1937. Les Greneriers adds another named parcel expression, associated with strength and intensity. Héritage comes from inherited family vineyards.
Wines
Vignes du Tremblay is a Moulin-à-Vent red made from Gamay. It is racy, fleshy and dense, with black fruit, chocolate and pepper. Its palate is supple, with fine acidity, a velvety middle and silky tannins, followed by a long finish with mineral return, black cherry and dried violet. The wine is ready to drink and built to gain complexity over time.
Les Greneriers is associated with strength and intensity. Héritage comes from inherited family vineyards and is associated with opulence. The range moves from a named Moulin-à-Vent red to cuvées distinguished by parcel and family vineyard origin.
Final Word
Domaine Paul Janin & Fils is a Beaujolais family domaine with Moulin-à-Vent Gamay, named parcel cuvées and estate bottling.
