The Producer
At Mas de Nages in Caissargues, Michel and Tina Gassier lead Domaine Gassier. The domaine favors terroir expression and natural complexity over manipulation. Its white range includes a limestone terroir cuvée, while the vineyards are farmed through organic and regenerative agriculture.
Place
Mas de Nages is in Caissargues, in the Costières de Nîmes appellation. Nostre Pais Blanc carries the appellation name. Embruns de Viognier puts Viognier on the label and is made entirely from that grape.
Wines
Nostre Pais Blanc 2021 is a Costières de Nîmes blend composed of 60% Grenache Blanc, 20% Clairette, 7.5% Viognier and 7.5% Roussanne. The cuvée comes from limestone rich terroirs, with minimal oak influence favored in pursuit of minerality.
Embruns de Viognier 2024 is a 100% Viognier wine. Its nose brings intense apricot and tangerine with a hint of vanilla. The palate is voluptuous and fresh, with apricot, peach and citrus, and a long, lush finish with zingy freshness.
A Bottle To Understand It
Choose Nostre Pais Blanc. It is the Costières de Nîmes cuvée, made from several white grape varieties and drawn from limestone rich terroirs. The bottle keeps the range in a regional blend before Embruns de Viognier moves to a single grape variety.
Final Word
From Mas de Nages, Domaine Gassier joins Costières de Nîmes white wine, Viognier and regenerative vineyard work in one family operation.
