The Producer
Valentin is the fourth generation of winemakers on the family estate. Domaine du Margalleau extends over 32 hectares of Chenin, and the vineyards lie within one kilometre as the crow flies around the winery. The domaine name comes from one of the first plots farmed by the family grandfather.
Family know how is adapted to the vagaries of Touraine climate and its variety of terroirs. The range includes dry, sweet and sparkling wines.
Place
Touraine's climate and variety of terroirs are the conditions the domaine works with. Climate affects ripeness and acidity, while terroir can alter aroma and texture. Domaine du Margalleau adapts family know how to both.
Wines
The range divides itself by wine form and sweetness. The still wines run from Sec, a dry style, to Moelleux, a sweet style. Sparkling Brut adds a second form of Vouvray, with fine bubbles and a dry profile. Another sparkling wine carries more sweetness. Chenin Blanc runs through the domaine's Vouvray range in dry, sweet and sparkling forms.
Final Word
Domaine du Margalleau joins four generations of family winemaking to Touraine Vouvray made from Chenin Blanc. The range moves across dry, sweet and sparkling forms, with Vouvray Brut as its named sparkling bottle.
