The Producer
Château La Bridane is a family property in Saint-Julien-Beychevelle and part of Vignobles Bruno Saintout. Noëlie Saintout, Pierre-Simon Saintout and Bruno Saintout lead the estate. The vines average 30 years of age. The property also holds the high environmental value farm designation.
Place
Deep gravel underlies the vineyards in Saint-Julien-Beychevelle. Gravel drains freely and warms quickly, conditions that support ripening in Bordeaux. The estate ties the wine's original perfume to this deep gravelly subsoil.
Wines
The range includes Château La Bridane and Les Trois Canons de la Bridane, both AOC Saint-Julien, plus Château de Cartujac, a Cru Bourgeois AOC Haut-Médoc. Château La Bridane is composed of 47% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot.
The 2020 vintage brings flowers, cherries and a touch of oak on the nose. It is soft, medium bodied, fruity and savoury, with a dusty texture and a bright, crisp finish of red currant and cherry. Château de Cartujac is supple, fine and tannic, with pleasant fruity and woody aromas.
Final Word
Château La Bridane is a family property in Saint-Julien-Beychevelle, with deep gravel beneath Cabernet Sauvignon led vines and a range that reaches from Saint-Julien to Haut-Médoc.
