The Producer

In 1223, the Viscount of Narbonne granted the land to the de Treilles family, who adopted the name de Gléon. Château Haut Gléon now makes wines under a philosophy of tradition, passion and high standards, focused on freshness, liveliness, aromatic character and complexity.

Place

The estate has seven natural springs. Northern exposure and the Berre River create a fairly cool microclimate. The vineyard relies on roots reaching seven to eight metres into the earth to seek moisture in an arid region.

Wines

The range includes wines under AOP Corbières and IGP Vallée du Paradis. Château Haut Gléon Rouge is the named AOP Corbières red, composed of 60% Grenache, 25% Syrah and 15% old vine Carignan.

Traditional vinification takes place in temperature-controlled stainless-steel vats. The red wine undergoes four weeks of maceration with gentle daily pump overs for soft extraction, then ages for 12 months in 228- and 300-litre French oak barrels.

In The Glass

Château Haut Gléon Rouge is deep ruby garnet in colour, with an intense and complex bouquet of black fruit, mild spice and roasted coffee bean. Pepper and cocoa join the aromatic profile. The palate is full and rounded, with mellow tannins, generous intensity and a long fresh finish.

A Bottle To Understand It

Choose Château Haut Gléon Rouge. It is the named AOP Corbières red in the range, with an aging potential of 10 to 12 years. The bottle places Grenache, Syrah and old vine Carignan under one estate label.

Final Word

Château Haut Gléon is a Corbières estate with deep rooted vines and a named red wine aged in French oak.
