The Producer
Hand harvesting uses small buckets, followed by meticulous sorting before fermentation. Many of the vines are over 40 years old. All wine production takes place on the estate, from vine to bottle. Since 2023, the vineyards have been certified organic. The property includes an eighteenth century château and an orangery used as an event venue.
Place
The Morgon parcel has red granite and silt. Morgon is the appellation within Beaujolais, France. Gamay Noir à Jus Blanc is the traditional variety of Beaujolais, and the estate uses it exclusively. Morgon names the place on the bottle; Gamay names the grape.
Wines
The range is Morgon only. Morgon Les Charmes 2019 is a red Beaujolais wine carrying the Morgon appellation. The wines have refined tannins and rich flavours.
Final Word
Château Grange Cochard produces Morgon wines from the traditional Beaujolais grape and handles production from vine to bottle on the estate.
