The Producer
The Vidal Dumoulin family operates Château de la Liquière across multiple generations. Sophie Vidal handles administration, her husband Laurent Dumoulin manages the vineyards, and François Vidal works in sales. The estate operates 55 hectares in Cabrerolles within Faugères AOC and follows organic farming.
The wines are made for a pure, exact style that retains southern character. The family keeps the range broad in colour while working within one appellation and one family estate.
Place
The vineyards occupy the highest part of Faugères, where the ground is exclusively schist. Faugères is the appellation on the label, and Cabrerolles is the estate's home place.
Schist gives the estate one geological constant across its parcels, while the portfolio extends across red, white and rosé wines. The wines retain the southern character associated with the estate's production philosophy.
Wines
The range includes Château de la Liquière Faugères and Terre du Sud Château de la Liquière. Château de la Liquière Faugères 2023 is a red wine made from Grenache, Syrah and Carignan. Terre du Sud Château de la Liquière is a 2024 red wine from Faugères.
The white wines are hand harvested and aged in tank. The 2023 Faugères is intense and aromatic, with mineral notes and a savoury finish. Its tannins are abundant, fine and long lasting. It is served at 16 to 18°C and recommended before 2030.
Final Word
Château de la Liquière famille Vidal Dumoulin pairs family farming in Cabrerolles with Faugères's exclusively schist ground and a broad range of red, white and rosé wines.
