The Producer

Champagne Collet began in Aÿ as a union of visionary growers. The founders opposed the use of grapes from North Africa in Champagne production. The house operates as a cooperative in which winegrowers themselves are the owners.

Its range includes both named vineyard wines and broader Champagne cuvées. Art Déco Brut carries a detailed aromatic profile, while Aÿ Grand Cru comes from a single named slope and uses one grape variety alone.

Place

Aÿ is Champagne Collet's home village, while La Côte du Moulin is the named slope for Aÿ Grand Cru. A slope lets rainwater move downhill and gives vine rows changing angles to the sun, physical differences that can alter ripening. The cuvée pairs that site with Pinot Noir alone. Grand Cru identifies Champagne's highest vineyard classification.

Wines

Four named bottles in the house's range are Champagne Collet Brut Rosé, Champagne Collet Blanc de Noirs Premier Cru, .Collet Blanc de Blancs Premier Cru, and Collet Brut. Their labels cover rosé, Blanc de Noirs, Blanc de Blancs and Brut styles. Blanc de Noirs means a white sparkling wine made from dark grapes, while Blanc de Blancs means one made from white grapes. Brut marks a dry style.

Aÿ Grand Cru is made from 100% Pinot Noir from La Côte du Moulin. Art Déco Brut has a nose of white flowers, lime, apple, pear, pineapple, aniseed and honey. Its palate is creamy and silky, with citrus fruits, pineapple, smoky notes, sea salt and honey.

Brut Rosé carries a Gold Medal from Mundus Vini, 93/100 from Falstaff, and 90/100 from James Suckling, all awarded in 2025.

Final Word

Villa Collet in Aÿ is a heritage site and cultural venue connected to the origins of Champagne Collet.
