The Producer

Agustí Torelló Mata’s family project reaches a third generation at Celler Kripta, the sparkling wine producer based in Sant Sadurní d’Anoia and linked to the Penedès vineyards. Celler Kripta makes long aged sparkling wine from native varieties, with Kripta as its flagship Brut Nature.

The range carries a family name, a local address and a clear commitment to extended bottle ageing. The business now produces approximately 500,000 bottles annually and distributes them in more than 30 countries.

Place

La Serra is the winery’s address in Sant Sadurní d’Anoia, Barcelona. The town sits within the Penedès vineyard landscape that Celler Kripta identifies as part of its inheritance.

The vineyards extend across more than 100 hectares, including 40 hectares owned by the family. The label therefore connects one named winery address with a wider Penedès vineyard base, while the sparkling wines are vinified at the winery.

Story

The Torelló family now represents a third generation through Gemma, Àlex, Marc, Sofia and Sara Torelló. Their arrival coincides with a current phase of the business in which the family name, the Kripta brand and the winery’s sparkling range sit together.

In July 2025, Celler Kripta joined Corpinnat after passing the collective’s mandatory audits and became its sixteenth member winery. Corpinnat is a collective brand, so the membership places Celler Kripta inside a defined group of sparkling wine producers while retaining its own Kripta name.

Vineyards And Cellar

All Celler Kripta sparkling wines are made from grapes vinified entirely at the winery. Harvests are 100% manual, and the wines are certified organic and vegan.

Manual harvesting means the bunches are cut by hand. Organic certification concerns vineyard farming, while vegan certification concerns the materials used during production. The method stays visible on the label through the producer’s long aged sparkling wines and dated disgorgement practice.

Wines

The range has two clear levels. Franc Reserva Corpinnat 2021 is the fresh, accessible Brut. Its producer specification is 50% Macabeo, 20% Xarel·lo and 30% Parellada, with 6 g/l sugar added as organic grape must.

Kripta Gran Reserva Brut Nature Corpinnat 2016 is the flagship bottle, built around much longer bottle ageing. Franc carries a stated dosage and three grape varieties, while Kripta carries the Brut Nature designation and the flagship role.

In The Glass

Franc opens with green apple, peach and nectarine. The palate is fresh and supple, with fine persistent bubbles, balanced sugar and acidity, and a long delicate aftertaste. A second register brings caramel, mint, fresh herbs and balsamic notes behind the apple.

Kripta brings chamomile, wild herbs, ripe stone fruit, citrus, lemongrass, fresh butter and roasted nuts. Its palate is bone dry, with crisp acidity, fine extract and mellow creaminess.

A Bottle To Understand It

Open Kripta Gran Reserva Brut Nature Corpinnat 2016 first. It is the flagship bottle, and its long bottle ageing places the vintage at the far end of the range’s time scale.

Brut Nature signals a sparkling wine with no added dosage after disgorgement. Celler Kripta prints the disgorgement date on every bottle, so this wine carries both a vintage and a recorded point at which its lees ageing ended.

Anecdote

In 1953, Agustí Torelló Mata established Sant Sadurní d’Anoia’s first wine analysis laboratory. Before sparkling wine goes into bottle, analysis can follow sugar and acidity in the base wine and later check the changes brought by fermentation and ageing. The work gives the cellar measurements that can sit beside taste and experience. The laboratory was established in Sant Sadurní d’Anoia, where Celler Kripta is located today.

Final Word

Celler Kripta makes sparkling wine in Sant Sadurní d’Anoia from manually harvested grapes vinified at the winery, with Kripta as its flagship Brut Nature.
