The Producer
Bodegas Juan Gil sits on the slopes of Peñarrubia mountain in Jumilla, where the Gil family has made wine since the early 20th century. Its more than 750 hectares of vineyards are mainly unirrigated, low-yielding bush vines, including indigenous clones from its own nursery. Monastrell accounts for 85% of the vineyard, and a large part is farmed organically.
Wines
The listed organic range includes GOSA Organic Rosé, GOSA Organic Monastrell, Juan Gil Blanco, and the Juan Gil Yellow, Silver and Blue labels. Yellow Label is Monastrell aged about four months in barrel, while Silver Label spends about 12 months in French oak and Blue Label blends Monastrell, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah.
