The Producer
Domaine de L'oubliée began in 2009, when Xavier Courant created the domaine in Saint-Patrice. Manual work includes disbudding and harvesting with seasonal workers. Biodynamic preparations are used to reactivate the vineyard soils, and fermentation relies on natural yeasts without temperature control.
The domaine works mainly with Cabernet Franc and also grows Chenin. Its wines are made across several colours and formats, from red and white wines to rosé and white sparkling wine.
Place
Saint-Patrice is one of the villages in the AOC Bourgueil appellation. The domaine's planting puts Cabernet Franc at the centre of its red wines, while Chenin provides the white wine counterpart. Cabernet Franc generally brings red fruit, herbal notes and tannin to red wine, while Chenin brings acidity and citrus or apple notes to white wine.
Wines
Merci la Vie and Notre Histoire are red wines. Existe en Blanc is a white wine, Le Bruit des Glaçons is a rosé, and Les Valseuses is a white sparkling wine.
Merci la Vie 2024 is a Touraine red with organic certification and 12.5% alcohol by volume. The range is organized by grape, colour and format, with Cabernet Franc on the red side and Chenin used for white wine.
Final Word
Domaine de L'oubliée joins Saint-Patrice fruit, Cabernet Franc and Chenin with manual vineyard work, biodynamic preparations and natural yeast fermentation. The portfolio runs from red and white wines to rosé and white sparkling bottles.
