The Producer
David Sadie holds a BSc in viticulture and oenology from Stellenbosch University. He established David & Nadia in 2013, then moved operations to Paardebosch farm in Swartland in 2014. The range includes Chenin Blanc, Grenache and Pinotage, along with white blends.
David's winemaking philosophy places emphasis on freshness and terroir expression in a warm region. Nadia avoids herbicides, plants cover crops and is experimenting with conversion to organics. David is a member of the Cape Winemakers Guild.
Place
Swartland in South Africa is a warm region, and freshness is a central concern for its wines. In general wine terms, freshness comes from lively acidity and a clear sense of place, even when grapes ripen in strong warmth.
David & Nadia has a stated focus on freshness and terroir expression in that climate. The wines are made in Swartland, and the place is part of their character.
Wines
The range spans white and red wines. White bottlings include David & Nadia Chenin Blanc, Plat'Bos Chenin Blanc, David & Nadia Aristargos and Skaliekop David & Nadia. Red bottlings include David & Nadia Pinotage, David & Nadia Grenache Noir, David & Nadia Grenache, David & Nadia Elpidios and David & Nadia Topography Pinotage.
Chenin Blanc and Grenache are used in several bottlings. Pinotage appears as both David & Nadia Pinotage and David & Nadia Topography Pinotage. White blends are also part of the range, whose overall style is framed by freshness and terroir expression.
Final Word
David & Nadia works from Swartland with Chenin Blanc, Grenache and Pinotage across white and red wines. David's warm climate approach centers on freshness and terroir expression, while Nadia's farming avoids herbicides and uses cover crops.
