Who makes it
Gaston Hochar founded Chateau Musar in 1930 after returning from Bordeaux. Local Bedouins hand-pick the grapes in the early morning.
The estate calls its winemaking non-interventionist: natural fermentation, minimal sulphur and no fining or filtering.
What they make
The reds draw on Cabernet Sauvignon, Cinsault and Carignan; the white combines Obaideh and Merwah. The flagship red can age for a long time and has blackcurrant, leather and delicate spice notes.
The range also includes Chateau Musar Rosé, Hochar Pere et fils, Musar Jeune, Musar Jeune White and Levantine de Musar.
