Who makes it
Mari Paz Quílez is an enologist with a degree in Enology from Universitat Politècnica. Bodegas Vegamar is a family operated bodega based in Valencia's Alto Turia.
The producer works from a home vineyard holding and has wines carrying other Spanish appellations. Alto Turia reds and rosés form the local programme, while the named bottles extend into Rioja and Rías Baixas.
Where it grows
The Tuéjar and Turia rivers surround the bodega in Valencia's Alto Turia, a natural setting ideal for viticulture. The owned vineyards sit within that same river landscape. The labels separate the named bottles by region: Viña Amézqueta Crianza carries a Rioja designation, while Leneas Albariño carries the Rías Baixas appellation of Galicia. Vegamar remains based in Valencia's Alto Turia; the Galician designation identifies Leneas Albariño's appellation.
What they make
The range places Alto Turia reds and rosés alongside named wines from Rioja and Rías Baixas. Viña Amézqueta Crianza is a Rioja red made from 90% Tempranillo, with Garnacha, Mazuelo and Graciano. It ages for 12 months in selected oak barrels. Red fruit aromas carry spiced and balsamic notes, with oak and licorice undertones. The palate is approachable and smooth, with an easy, lengthy, fresh finish.
Leneas Albariño is a white wine carrying the Rías Baixas appellation of Galicia. It places Albariño beside the Tempranillo led Rioja Crianza, while the Alto Turia vineyards remain the producer's local base.
