The story
Hochs Begin Danube Trade
In 1640, the Hoch family began trading cargo carried on the Danube. They bought goods from ships that landed in Hollenburg and sold their wine. The family later became Danube shipping masters, controlling river traffic for more than 300 years. At the end of the nineteenth century, regulation of the Danube nationalised control of shipping. The Hochs left the trade and concentrated on agriculture. The original coat of arms on the labels shows an oar, grappling hook and anchor.
The 2008 Viticulture Decision
In 2008, the Hoch family decided to stop fruit growing and devote itself exclusively to viticulture. Harald and Andrea had taken responsibility for the estate in 1990, and their children Christoph and Daniela now support the family winery. Christoph also makes his own wines through a separate winery, Christoph Hoch, which has existed since 2012.

An oar, grappling hook and anchor appear in the original coat of arms on Winzerhof Hoch's labels. The Hochs were Danube shipping masters and controlled river traffic for more than 300 years. The family tree reaches back to 1640. In 1990, Harald Hoch and his wife Andrea assumed responsibility for the estate as its twelfth generation.
Their children Christoph and Daniela now support the family winery. Christoph also makes his own wines through a separate winery, Christoph Hoch, which has existed since 2012. Winzerhof Hoch farms 14 hectares of vineyard.
