The Producer
The Korrell family traces its history in the Nahe to Spanish ancestors who settled there in 1832. In 1967, Wilfried Korrell took over the family's mixed agricultural operation and converted it to viticulture. After succeeding his father, Martin Korrell pursued further vineyard acquisitions.
The conversion to organic viticulture has been completed, and additional single sites along the Nahe were acquired in 2021. Nearly 40 hectares are harvested each autumn, all exclusively by hand.
Individual batches may ferment in barrel or steel. The announced plan beginning with the 2025 vintage was to mature single-vineyard wines in 600-litre half-casks. Across the range, the wines are divided into estate, local and site-wine tiers.
Wines
Korrell Beerenauslese 2017 is an equal blend of Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris, with 169 grams per litre of sugar. Its developed aroma brings honey, dried pineapple, apricot marmalade, mineral and bitter orange, joined by ripe peach and dried apricot. The palate is fruity, sweet, medium-bodied, nuanced and smooth, with a long finish and a soft, sweet finish.
