The Tolpuddle Namesake
In the 1830s, a group of British farm labourers attempted to form a union and were transported to Australia. The group is known as the Tolpuddle Martyrs, and Tolpuddle Vineyard takes its name from them. The vineyard produces exclusively Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Guided tastings bring current releases alongside an example from an earlier vintage, and visits are by appointment. The tasting room closes on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year's Day, and Good Friday. The range remains limited to Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

The 2024 Pinot Noir has dark, brooding fruit and lifted aromas of aniseed and pepper, with fine integrated tannins and a minerally finish. The 2024 Chardonnay is fine and precise, with fresh sugar snap pea, fennel, white nectarine and a hint of struck match. Its palate carries a textural glaze of grapefruit pith and a sapid, mineral line.
