Place
Patriarche's headquarters remain in the historic cellar complex in Beaune. Bottle ageing takes place in vaulted cellars beneath the former Visitandines Convent, where the galleries provide the physical setting for the house's long cellar work.
The public experience includes a self guided route through five kilometers of vaulted galleries, including structures dating from the 13th century, followed by a tasting of six Burgundy wines. The cellar complex remains both a working wine setting and a public destination.
Wines
The range moves from a red Pinot Noir to white Chardonnay wines under Bourgogne and Chablis labels. Patriarche Pinot Noir is made entirely from Pinot Noir. Bourgogne Chardonnay Cuvée des Visitandines is Chardonnay sourced from several communes across Bourgogne.
Chablis Cuvée Léonce Bocquet is Chardonnay under the Chablis appellation, with a fruity and very fresh style. The Cuvée des Visitandines details for the 2025 bottling specify low temperature fermentation and French oak ageing for approximately 20 percent of the wine.
In The Glass
The 2025 Cuvée des Visitandines carries oak, yellow apple, pineapple, browned butter, spice, herbs, and grilled lemon. Its profile is nuanced and fruity, with the oak and browned butter notes alongside citrus and orchard fruit.
The Chablis Cuvée Léonce Bocquet brings a different set of fruit notes, with yellow apple, pear, Galia melon, and lemon. The wine is very fresh, with Chardonnay and the Chablis appellation stated together.
A Bottle To Understand It
Patriarche Chablis Cuvée Léonce Bocquet 2023 is the first bottle to open. It is Chardonnay from the Chablis appellation, with yellow apple, pear, Galia melon, and lemon across the palate. The bottle puts a named appellation, a grape, and a clear fruit profile in the same glass.
