The story
The Estate Changes Hands
In 1981, Lodovico Antinori founded Tenuta dell’Ornellaia, an estate described as 225 acres in Tuscany’s coastal Bolgheri. Historical references use Tenuta dell’Ornellaia as the predecessor estate name for Ornellaia. Marchesi Frescobaldi reached a deal with Constellation Brands to take over the estate in its entirety. The transaction covered full ownership of Tenuta dell’Ornellaia, with Constellation Brands as the other named party in the deal. Today Marchesi Frescobaldi owns Ornellaia, and Ferdinando Frescobaldi is president of the Frescobaldi Group owned estate.
